Does anybody know any “native” Japanese jokes? (Where the punchline isn’t some English pun, like どうしてハワイ人は歯医者に行かないか?歯はいいから) I asked Japanese Siri and she always started with “this is an American joke,” which (I’m assuming) she then translates.
The closest I can think of comes from an anime. There’s this girl that ask her friend to help her look more like a demon (あくま), so her friend brings her a bear costume, she asks what’s with the costume and her friend says 「あ、くま。」. But the structure is essentially the same.
How about the girl whose parents named her 水田まり not knowing that it sounded like 水溜まり
