Hello guys,
If foreign residents returning to Japan, are unable to get a negative result from the 72 hour PCR test, what options are available to them?

  1. I hope you have an insurance, because you will likely need to extend your stay and change your return dates.

  2. Call the embassy, they will ask you to get a note from a doctor stating that you are no longer infectious after a certain date. You will send the note, a positive PCR test dated after when the doctor said you’d stop being infectious along with a copy of your passport and 在留カード. In a few business days they will send you a letter permitting you to fly.
