Hi all. I’m looking to do the Kumano Kodo hike arriving at Hongu in time for the Kunamo Hongu Taisha Spring Festival 13th – 15th April 2023. I’ve emailed the Tanabe City Tourism Board but they’ve only confirmed that while the dates for the festival is fixed, they won’t know if it’ll go ahead or not until closer to the date.
I’m wondering if anyone here has knowledge of whether the festival was held during the lockdown / restricted travel years. I know it’s not a good indicator of whether it will go ahead in 2023, but I think it’ll better help me manage my expectations.
