Never have I ever remembered the proper year to put on my tax certificate forms.
I moved in April of this year to Nara from Shizuoka. Tax is determined by where you live on January 1. I’m already getting the paper work ready for a mail-in application, but unsure if I put Reiwa 4 or Reiwa 3 for the tax year. In year 3 (2021) I was in Kanagawa, and I remember I had to obtain my tax papers from that city hall I just cant remember what year I put on them.

Reiwa 4 technically isnt over yet and from year 3 (April 2021- March 2022) I have income from Shizuoka… so I request year 3?

There’s technically no rush for my paperwork as this year I’m getting ready for my visa renewal early finally lmao. Just trying to get my ducks in a row since the mail in process takes longer I dont want to confuse them with the paperwork.

AFAIK, tax year Reiwa 4 (this year) would give you taxes paid in 2021, and Reiwa 3 would be for 2020.
Just request both year 4 and 3 from both locales in case. That’s what I did for my visa. Your most recent locale will probably tell you “we don’t have your year 3 on record since you weren’t living here at that time,” but no harm done.
I know that feeling, I couldn’t remember it also. I always ask the person at the city hall for the latest year that I could print, that always works lol.
