Our school (Cambridge English in Sendai) is looking for teachers to join our team. We want to make sure candidates will be a good fit for the school, so we would like people to work for a few months on a part-time basis first -we’re looking to hire the right candidate(s) on a full-time basis in the summer.
This would be a good opportunity for dispatch ALTs in Sendai or the surrounding area.
The part-time shifts are Saturday mornings or afternoons (11:00-17:00). 3,000 yen per class, all lessons are fully planned and prepared.

**EDIT:** This might not have been as clear as it could have, but the initial part-time work is intended for someone to do on the side, while continuing with their current job. It is 2 or 3 classes on a Saturday (two shifts) and intended to offer a chance for the candidate to see how our school operates, and for us to see what they are like as a teacher and a person.

Does anyone know who could survive the part-time portion of this? It must be at night?
How long are the classes?

I always liked you whenever I saw you around here on reddit and I’ve read your book twice now. I recommend anyone in the Sendai area looking for a job right now to give this a go.
The part-time system is a really good idea. Good for the school and the teachers and can’t really be abused by the school because it would end up on reddit really quick and anyone searching about the school would find it.
The only red flag here is the “all lessons are fully planned and prepared”. In my experience this means “do it like it’s written” which essentially makes all teachers equal. This is good if you bring in unskilled teachers but is horrible if you bring someone with actual qualifications because you’re making them equal to someone without qualifications. That might not be what you mean to do but people who have been to rodeos before might think it is what you mean. As someone with several qualifications/certs myself, I don’t want to be forced to do the same thing Tim (fresh out of college with a math BA) is doing, because I have more tools in my pocket.
