What makes this sentence “Don’t be irresponsible” and what does こと mean?

無責任なこと言わ

無責任な = Irresponsible

言わ= say

I’m aware that the translation of this phrase is something along the lines of “Don’t be irresponsible” “dont say anything irresponsible” etc. WHY?

Can someone breakdown this sentence please?

Thanks in advance!

  1. This is just a personal preference, but I would say:

    いい加減なこと言うな

    いい加減な – irresponsible

    こと – thing (namely, intangible thing)

    言うな – 言う is “to say”, and if you add な in this case it means “don’t”

  2. > 言わ

    Where did you get this from? It’s incomplete. Did you copy/paste only part of something longer like 言わないで?
