What’s that star/planet in the sky lately?

Lately I’ve been seeing a distinct light in the sky whenever I go to sleep. From Tokyo, it appears to west and slightly south. So if north was 12 o’clock, then it would be in the direction of 7 or 8 o’clock.

Just curious if anyone knows what star/planet it is, or if they have a phone app that can figure it out.

  1. If you have an Android phone, google skymap (a free app) will allow you to point your phone in any direction and it will show you a map of all the planets, constellations, meteor showers, etc. It’s a pretty cool program, especially on clear nights.
