I am considering sending some money to the UK from my Japanese bank account. Has anyone used Wise to do this? How easy is it to send the money from a Japanese bank? I mean how do you actually do it?
Yeah Wise works well for it. First have to sign up and submit ID etc, then transfer JPY into it using “receive money”, then “send money” GBP and enter UK account details. Start with small bit of money at each step to confirm you’re doing it right before sending substantial sums.
Incredibly easy.
As for how, you Furikomi the money to their Japanese back account, and they pay into your UK bank account from their account in the UK.
I’ve used Wise many times with no issues. Are theirs the absolute lowest fees? Sadly No, but it’s extremely straight forward and the fees are plenty low enough.
Max is a million yen and a 7 thousand yen fee. Seems high but the exchange rate is set as mid market rates and means usually cheaper than other methods. Wish it was possible to send more in one go though.
