Hi everyone!
Apologies for the question in case it has been asked before.
Recently my instructors work permit expired and got changed into a zairyuu card with designated activities status (特定活動) with additional 4 months to stay in Japan (28h work per week allowed).
When I asked, the immigration worker said that with that status, I would NOT be allowed to go abroad and re-enter Japan, however I didn’t understand the reason.
After some research, I’ve found information that I would be able to re-enter which is very confusing.
My question: Is there someone here who knows more about this and whether this is true since Japan’s borders reopened recently?
There is a chance I might have to go abroad and I wish to re-enter Japan.
Thank you in advance.

Do you really want to ask the internet if you should go against what immigration told you?
Currently, there are more than 50 types of designated activities, and the activities permitted for each are different.
You would need to know which specific “designated activities” visa you have to get better information about what you can/can’t do.
