  1. Lol it reads like a propaganda piece with everyone being so excited for such a luke warm solution.

  2. A silly question, do these guided tours allow “free time” for those participating the tours? Typically, evenings are reserved for shopping and “do your own thing” on retail districts like Shinjuku in Tokyo or Namba in Osaka. If they don’t, then these yours are no different from North Korean guides tours.

  3. ‘Tolerate’. Japan gets ready to ‘tolerate’ foreign tourists. Maybe even ‘endure’.

  4. Serious question, how much longer can Japan keep up with these “open borders” before the G7 threatens to do the same to Japanese tourists?

  5. Been to Japan almost a dozen times. Don’t need a guided tour, just permission to enter so I can see friends/family. I hope they open up this fall, but I’m not holding my breath.

Anything related to government actions moves in geologic time.

  6. Since Korea has opened its border, while Taiwan is also preparing to do so, I believe that Japan would probably follow suit in the near future.

  7. Its been an interesting experience living in Japan during these Corona times. I took advantage to go to all the touristic places while they were empty. But I much rather have people worldwide enjoy them, as long as they follow the laws and recommendations that everyone tries to follow here.

  8. Under these restrictions, there is no chance I will return to Japan. I hate travelling in groups and refuse to do so. When Japan opens up, I will look forward to going back as I love the country and its people.

  9. I think I am going to wait a year or so just until the first few waves of tourists bulldoze the country.

  10. “Japan devises new policy of allowing free tourism so long as tourists are monitored 24/7 by a surveillance system that watches their every move in ALL situations. Videos of them using the restroom are then sold to fetish studios in order to generate revenue in order to bolster the Japanese economy.”

But in all serious I have a ticket bought for August and I’m going to be disappointed as hell if it doesn’t work out.
