My main goal is to find out if this schedule is attainable for a family of four (me, wife, our 7 y.o., and MIL). We want to take it slow and enjoy our time while eating and taking pictures, so the schedule is very loose and we’re open to adding/omitting sights. A part of me feels like we’re not doing enough, so we’re open to suggestions. The activities are geared more towards my son having a blast. The locations in parentheses are day trips.
1. Is it more efficient to travel clockwise or counterclockwise for this trip?
2. Should we go to Kanazawa first then Takayama?
3. Is activating a 14-day JR Pass when we leave Tokyo worth it?
4. Is it better to just base in Osaka for the entire Kansai region or is splitting fine?
P.S. We’ve been to Tokyo two times before, but this is our first long trip where we have the to time to explore other regions.

I don’t know MIL. Is your baby 3 months old?USJ attractions have height restrictions. How tall is your child? The height limit for Mario Kart is 107 cm, so I think it’s probably fine.
I often go to USJ, so if you have any questions, I will answer them.
