April trip with kids

Planning a Kyoto/Tokyo April trip with two kids, 11 and 6. We’re slower travelers, not needing to pack a day with sites. We enjoy walking around, snacking on foods, soaking in the atmosphere. A lot of the dinners are still to be determined, but generally they would be around the hotel.

For restaurants, we plan on eating sushi, yakitori, okonomiyaki, curry, etc. Generally a lot of the foods we already enjoyed and am familiar with. Perhaps splurge on a nice Wagyu dinner. Is there any type meals that I may be missing that I should definitely look into?

Any thoughts on my itinerary

  2. I do not see why you would want to do Nara on the day you go to Tokyo, especially as you would have to return to Kyoto to get on the shinkansen. Especially with a kid, I would try to cut down the hours of train in a single day instead of doing all the longer train distance in a single day. Just do Nara as a daytrip from Kyoto in any of the earlier day.
