Anyone have experience getting Adobe creative cloud as an ALT?

Just wondering if ALTs are eligible for the massive educational discounts that Adobe gives for educators and students. If anyone has had success doing it I’d like to here how the sign up process was. How did you go about verifying I Adobe you were staff?

  1. I didn’t do it as an ALT, but as far as I can tell, the only check Adobe does is if you have a school email address. If you sign up for it with a .ac.jp, you should be fine. So it all comes down to if you can get your school to give you an email address.

There may be some issues with the .jp locking you into Adobe Japan instead of another country’s Adobe system. The apps themselves will be in whatever language you set your OS to so that’s not an issue, but payment will be required in yen. You can do it by yearly furikomi if you don’t want to mess with international credit card shenanigans.

  2. What kind of ALT are you – municipal or dispatch?

A municipal BoE I worked for as a direct-hire issued email accounts for admin like me and all ALTs. We used our email for all kinds of education-related tools.

Ask your BoE about email accounts.

  3. I have an [ac.jp](https://ac.jp) account so was able to sign up for the educational price. They seem to want .edu or .ac accounts, although I’m not sure how strict the verification process is.

  4. May have to contact Adobe directly. For my teachers discount at Apple, I had to call them directly to tell them where I lived, worked, and planned usage in the classroom with said tech.

So while I didn’t have the e-mail domain to get the discount, I did have the credentials and they were applied by the salesperson over the phone.
