  1. Here’s a video followup of the Sugarfish box. I think it’s a great bang for your buck at $35.

  2. I’m going to find a way to say Ponzu more often. That was quite fun to hear. Nice review!

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s not a blue crab hand roll, correct? It might be blue crab, but it does not look like a hand roll.

  4. Did this sub just become an advertising platform for Sugarfish? It’s like every other post here lately

  5. The rice is supposed to be loosely packed, that’s a sign of good preparation. Chefs started packing the rice tighter when westerners started dipping the rice into the soy sauce so it wouldn’t fall apart as easily (you’re supposed to dip or coat the fish side). But traditionally looser rice is the “right” way to do it, and sushi chefs who want to be seen as serious pros will always do it that way.

  6. 1) You are holding the sushi incorrectly with chopsticks. Either hold the rice directly across the long side of the sushi or use your hands (was told this by Jiro’s elder son)
    2) Sauces should be applied right before you eat as the acidity starts to ‘cook’ the fish

  7. I have to say it again! This box just turns me off. Sorry, makes the fish look cheap and pale. Lol sorry ugh you post always feel like advertisements also

  8. Oh my did I see that correctly? Wasabi and soy sauce mixed together? OP, please don’t do that, just dip only the fish in soy sauce, then if you want, a small portion of wasabi on top. Also the fish looks a bit loose. I wouldn’t really pay 35USD for this

  9. $35 for rice that falls apart is highway robbery. And instructions, wtf is up with that?! It is sushi for lunch not a perpetual motion machine. This just feels pretentious, and nowhere is this a good bang for the buck

  10. $35!!? I’m really out of touch on sushi prices in the states. That seems really steep for that.
