Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to click this. Currently on a college student visa that is valid until early 2024, with my passport expiring in early Jan of 2023. The passport is issued by the United States. I’m wondering if anyone has been in this position and what you had too do as far as passport/visa renewal.

You have a status of residence which is shown on your residence card.
Your passport has no “visa” information in it. You can renew it using whatever methods you want, like contacting u.s. embassy near you.
I don’t remember if you need to inform immigration of your renewed passport number once you get the new one, but it wouldn’t hurt to call and ask.
Just renew both a few months before their date of expiry. They are not linked whatsoever.
