Discouraged by kanji.

How do you guys keep motivated? How do you practice? Whats your routine? Specially for beginners.

What made you stop?

  1. no matter the route, its always nice to see learnt kanji while doing immersion, motivating for me at least

  2. I personally found it easier to learn the readings of words rather than each kanji.

It’s way harder at first since you don’t really know what a kanji is and how you’re supposed to read it but eventually you’ll pick up how easy it really is

  3. If I couldn’t learn a language that over 100 million people were able to learn, how could I expect myself to manage with other problems in life?

  4. Kanji made me stop each time until I accepted them. From that moment I never stopped and it has been almost three years.

My routine in the morning is to do some Anki (vocabulary + grammar). My routine after work is to watch some anime in Japanese without subtitles. The weekend I take some time to go deeper on certain grammar points.
Twice a week I take conversation lessons.

When I was at the beginning I was only doing some Anki. The rest came little by little when I wanted to accelerate my progression.

  5. I love kanji, it’s one of my favourite parts of Japanese. I got excited over getting a kanji text book for my birthday. I don’t understand why people give up because of it.
