Shipping to Australia by sea

I need to send some stuff back to Australia (checked with the strict custom rules and it’s all good) but I’d like to do it as cheaply as possible, i.e. by sea.

Japan Post website shows only air mail is available for Australia, and I confirmed with a lady in store that they haven’t shipped to Australia by sea since COVID began. However, a friend who went back home to Australia permanently a month ago told me she was able to send some of her clothes through Japan Post by sea? She’s adamant it was Japan Post and showed me a picture of the sea mail label on her box – so is there any way this was possible?

I also checked with kuroneko and they don’t ship by sea to Australia either, so does anyone know if this is possible at the moment?

  1. I looked at the JP post site last week and it had seamail as an option. I did not however ask at the PO. I will hopefully send some stuff in a few weeks so I am hoping I can!

So… You actually tried handing them a box and asking for funabin?

I put 10kgs and Australia into this website and it offers me sea mail, says it will be 7900 Yen 2 – 3 months
