Feeling overwhelmed, what should I do?

Hi,

I feel very overwhelmed when I try to learn nowadays. All the words, new kanjis, verb forms. I retain them for a bit and then eventually forget most of it after a week.

Also, I’m in highschool at the moment. All the school work for my other subjects is really taking a strain on me already. Trying to keep up daily Japanese with that is killing me. Some weeks I just study weekends, and on really busy weeks not at all.

What should I do in this situation? Thanks in advance <3

  1. Take a break. Don’t force yourself if you are already burnt out.

If you are busy, just do your flashcards and call it good. Maybe read a paragraph. Save the new material for the weekends and just review during the week.

  2. If you can do both do both

If you can only do one or the other, you gotta cut back on Japanese because failing highschool will follow you around forever

If some weeks are busy and some weeks are slow, that’s a study opportunity right there.

  3. School work first. You’ll (most likely) have plenty of time to learn Japanese later on.
