Just curious about your experience getting into the field. Was it always your goal? Do you genuinely enjoy the job? Did you wait until you passed N1 to start looking for work? What was the interview process like?
I know it is the common and natural conclusion to passing N1 to start looking for work that requires some translation so I am curious to hear some of you actualized people’s stories.
Thanks in advance!

Freelancer here. Never intended to do it, it just so happened that my side-job of translating started making a lot more money than my regular job, so I quit around 12 years ago and have been freelancing ever since.
Have ever attempted or passed N1 – clients don’t care. They care only about experience and ability (which is usually tested in a trial translation test)
Don’t enjoy the job itself, but enjoy the money, freedom and lifestyle it provides.
