can I open a JP post bank account at any post office branch?

Basically the title, I’m just curious. Do I need to go to a specifically designated JP post bank branch or can I go to any post office and register for an account? Thanks 🙂

  1. There are a few, very rural post offices that will not offer banking services. If you’re not in the middle of b. f. nowhere, chances are your nearest post office will be fine. They typically have a bilingual sign up front with the opening hours and the services provided during. So you can check before you go in.

  2. Go to the one closest to where you live. They can be weird about opening an account at a branch that’s far away

  3. I went to the closet one too where I live and they offer banking service. But they pretty much told me to just do it online since no one spoke english and my Japanese is terrible. 🤣

  4. Yes you can! They were very helpful in my case, and it didn’t took too long, but to tell you the truth, you should go to a bank that gives you a credit card right from the beginning. It’s a headache and a half getting one later
