Hi all.. my kyoto 1st stop is kawai shrine which i need to alight at demachiyangi station. Using google map shows from kyoto station i alight at tofukuji station and travel to demachiyangi station on keihan main line( kyoto > tofukuji>shijicho> kiyomizu-gojo> gion-shijo> sanjo> jingu-marutamachi>demachiyangi. But on the japan transit planner app shows i need to transfer at sanjo station on keihan main line limited express to continue my journey to demachiyangi. Does that mean i need to alight at sanjo to transfer?

Keihan line has different service from Local service to Limited Express. Only Local and Semi-Express stops at Tofukuji station. Generally during midday, Limited Express trains overtake the local train at Sanjo station. The local train will generally also take you to Demachiyanagi station, but transferring to Limited Express at Sanjo station will be several minutes faster.
Or just take a bus No. 4 from Kyoto station directly to Demachiyanagi.
you could also take the subway to Imadegawa and walk a brief walk or hop a city bus two stops
