Making more complex sentences?

I’ve been doing really badly in my Japanese class and my teacher has told me I need to make my sentences more “complex” but I feel very lost on how to make them more complex.

  1. They probably mean use more subordinate clauses or noun modifying phrases or things more varied than simple present or past tense or including other grammatical constructs

    おもちゃが赤い。おもちゃが好きだ

    –> 赤いおもちゃが好きだ

    学校に行く。日本語を勉強する

    –> 学校に行って、日本語を勉強する

    –> 学校に行ったり、日本語を勉強したりする

    –> 学校に行ったら、日本語を勉強することにする

Tho it’s impossible to know unless you expound upon what you say that’s getting rejected and what examples the teacher wants
