I expect it’s because some hapless tourist put their strange foreigner man debit card into one of the ATMs, which gave the lady inside an aneurysm due to severe culture shock as a result of this being her first time encountering a foreign object in her slot since joining the workforce two years ago, which in turn triggered a mainframe ABEND when the poor lady pressed the key that is supposed to wake up the OL that can speak the English but the development guy hadn’t tested yet since the last Mizuho mainframe explosion, because his manager said that it is impossible for a foreigner man customer to come anyway due to COVID-19 or something.
As a valued Mizuho customer, my arse cheeks are fully clenched in anticipation of the generous fine that the FSA will award to the muppets for yet another cockup.
Someone forgot to change the fax roll again.
Spaghetti code is the source of all of Japan Inc’s woes, Mizuho included. Proprietary – and not to mention dated – biz practice and methodology will probably be the downfall of all of these megacorps. Best to diversify.
My company forces us to use Mizuho for travel reimbursements.
It’s such a hassle that half the time, I don’t even bother to claim expenses because it’s just not worth the trouble of using the system or the bank.
