UK medical student interested in doing elective in Japan

Hello,

I am a mature student in my final year of medical school and would like to do what is known as a medical elective, in Japan.

Does anyone here know where I might be able to get more information on this topic?

Or maybe you are able to offer advice yourself based on your experience/knowledge?

I would like to go to a big city ideally.

Thank you.

  1. There are a few different options available to you. Different programs have different application processes and acceptance criteria. I would not expect them to be paid.

    Check out these samples:

    http://cib.cf.ocha.ac.jp/KASOKU/en/internship/index.html
    [https://www.yokohama-cu.ac.jp/ytog/global/med_ccnonex.html](https://www.yokohama-cu.ac.jp/ytog/global/med_ccnonex.html)

This blurb from the Yokohama schools page probably applies universally:

    >*If the applicant’s proficiency in Japanese language is limited to an elementary level, while the applicant is not expected to be highly proficient in Japanese, they should not expect an English-only environment.

    Good luck!
