With a bachelors in art education, could I get a work visa?

Hello there!

I am currently debating all of my career options and I am stuck on birth — second grade education or art education for K — 12.

Thing is, I am unsure if being an art teacher in Japan will allow me to get a Visa for it. Is there any job postings or requirements? Is that not something a Visa will be granted for, an art teacher?

Thank you in advance!

  1. You’ve posted here a few times now, so you know about the bachelors degree requirement, if you have one in early childhood education or art education then yes, you can get hired by a school.

The question is what kind of teacher do you want to be? Japanese kindergartens that hire foreigners aren’t looking for actual teachers but teachers assistants, you’d be a perpetual one year contract employee with low pay and no job security. Maybe you’d do art classes, but most likely you’re singing “head, shoulders, knees and toes” everyday and wiping butts.

International schools have art teachers, but those jobs are very competitive and you’d need a good resume in your home country before you could have a chance at getting one.
