Does anyone find learning Japanese to be comforting or cosy?

I am not learning Japanese – I might be consider it one day though. I know the process can be [extremely taxing and difficult.](https://www.reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/lgle0y/the_effects_of_our_emotions_when_learning/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

I am just wondering if anyone feels about Japanese the way I do – I have always found it to be very cosy, comforting and, well, Ghibli-esque (even prior to encountering Ghibli films). I certainly do understand that Japanese culture cannot be reduced to a narrow band of positive associations and emotions. I do understand that the learning process may lose its charm and that I could be romanticising it – yet despite all of this, every time I see written Japanese or see any textbooks (or any books in Japanese really), it has this calming effect on me.

As an adult, I no longer watch anime, but the resulting feeling is very slice-of-life-like, very calming, grounding and meditative, almost. I do not wish to sound trite, but I do feel this way – the memories of Japanese fairy tales [from my childhood](https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=kamichu&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari) and how I used to browse my brother’s Japanese textbooks with cute and cosy everyday drawings (there’s just something about these) accompanying the study material, all of this feels very cosy.

I wonder if anyone feels this way too and my question would be if you always reconnect with these emotions when studying Japanese.

  1. It reminded me a lot of learning my native language in elementary school, so in a way it really was like retracing my childhood.
