Is there any consumer protection regulation regarding product guarantees?

I just got surprised by a major brand offering 30% refund for a product that broke before guarantee expires.

They explain that since the product is discontinued they cannot replace it and since it has been used 2/3 of the duration of the guarantee I’m not entitled to a full refund.

  1. Read the warranty terms. Maybe there’s something there that can help your situation.

  2. I got surprised by an even bigger major brand product sold at about 4x of the cost of parts inside breaking a month after 1 year (typical same class products are usually warrantied at 3 or 5 years) warranty and being told to pound sand when i asked how to go about replacing it.
