Hello folks,
As per the title after working for 2 years on my current BOE they have decided to have me on the wait list. As such I have a couple of question/s if you may :
1. This basically means that I am axed right? ( they just can’t say it to you upfront?)
2. Anything that I need to get from my current Board just in case I would not be renewed? (documents etc.)
3. I am also aware that I am on an instructor visa, would it be better to find another BOE or my only option is to go to a dispatch company right now?

Just hazarding a guess but they might be obligated to advertise the positions every so often.
1. Maybe. Maybe not. They may simply have some requirement to give a verbal temp hold every 2 years. That said, it would not hurt you to quickly register (3) with as many dispatch companies as you can. I fear that most BOE have hired already as general they do that in December/January and are notifying people of positions in January/February.
probably nothing personal and just want a fresh alt. def start applying for as many other BOE’s as you can rn
More likely an internal policy to either advertise the position or hire a new ALT every few years. It’s pretty tough to be outright fired, even for mediocre ALTs (not that you are). You may or may not be out of job. Figuring out the typical lifespan of their ALTs might give a you a clue as to whether or not this is the case, or if they’re up front about it, can tell you right there if you should start looking for another position.
1) You don’t know. We definitely don’t know. Don’t worry too much about it, but definitely start looking just in case.
2) Assuming you’re not set in a particular area, always direct-hire if you can help it. Although this is not for certain, look at each offer. There are some direct-hire positions that are basically dispatch positions where you work for the BoE.
