I remember Arai and Shoei motorcycle helmets being like 25% cheaper here even when the yen was 100 to the dollar. One of my friends wanted me to get him one. The japanese ones don’t go through the D.O.T. certification but they are Snell certified which has more strict requirements to pass compared to DOT.
I was hoping to pick up a few iPhone 13s before the price increase earlier this year (which, at the time, would have saved CAD$650 compared to buying back home).
One thing I’ve noticed that’s substantially cheaper at the moment is Canon cameras. I’m looking at a 5D Mark IV (new) and it’s a few hundred dollars less compared to buying on Amazon in Canada (and as much as $1200 less compared to buying at Best Buy/Henry’s/etc..)

If your getting paid in USD anyway.though probably be the same regardless actually.
There was a point a few months ago, when it was closer to $1.00 = 130JPY that a lot of electronics went from costing more to being like 10%-20% cheaper here. A lot of companies have adjusted their prices, but I just picked up 2 monitors that were cheaper here than in the US by like something trivial like $20.
What are you guys buying? I bought a really nice pressurized rice cooker (not the super expensive one that’s like $500 thought) and some books
Despite the price hike, the PS5 is still way cheaper in Japan than it is in the US.
