Registering temporary address

So I arrive in Japan on the 25th, my employer is supposed to be providing me with accommodation. I told them that I’ll arrive a couple of weeks before I’m due to start to recover from jet lag etc. They said that I can only move in 4 days before I’m due to start so I’ll have to provide my own accommodation until then. That’s fine.

However; they are taking their sweet time with arranging my apartment. I start 2 weeks on Monday and I still have not heard from them in regards to where I’ll be living and now I’m getting worried with the requirement of registering my address within 14 days of arrival.

Am I right in assuming a hotel address won’t cut it?

If so; does anyone know of some short stay apartments (1 month maximum) in Osaka that I can register at until my more permanent accommodation is sorted?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It depends on the city. Larger cities usually have rules against this. I see from later on that you’re staying in Osaka. Osaka definitely doesn’t allow it. No airbnb type places either in Osaka.

Check the Housing wiki for some links to places you could use. https://www.reddit.com/r/movingtojapan/wiki/housing/

  2. I was able to register my hotel with the local ward (Chiyoda-ku). It may vary by hotel or potentially on how long you’re staying at the hotel.
