Hello! Does anyone have any experiences or thoughts they’d like to share about YMCA Osaka Language School or Human Academy Osaka? I’m trying to pick between both schools to study in when I move to japan. 🙂
I studied 30 years ago at the Kobe YMCA. It was very professionally run
Yeah there is one in Tennoji, the wellness center, there were two courses, the practical and another(i forgot the name) i went for the 2 years course and it went from 9am to like 3pm. You start school with a placement test and you are put into random classes, 7 being the easy and 1 being the more advanced class. Let me tell you YMCA was brutal, they treat you like a 5 year old kids with their rules and regulations, I have to admit i made a lot of good friends however some of the teachers are really hard to work with. I remember this one time the Midosuji lines were delayed and they marked me as absent although i had a valid letter from Midosuji saying the trains were late, There was this one other time I had covid and they still marked me absent for 14 days although I had a valid positive Covid Test. I remember a friend of mine went back to his country for vacations and was hospitalized a few days before his flight back to Osaka and although he had a genuine reason and doctors report for his absence he was marked absent for like 3 weeks and as a result he was held back a year, being frustrated my friend abandoned his Japan dreams and went back to his country. If you have any questions feel free to ask me
I finished 1 year and 3 months practical course at YMCA Recently. I think it is a very good school currently. It attracts very Disciplined and Friendly foreign residents. The work was pretty strict which can be a good thing. They really push Homework and in-class practice. For that, I am thankful. They treated their students very well in my opinion and helped in multiple ways especially if you are struggling with home or life type issues. I recommened this school greatly.
