  1. なんで電子レンジ使えねえんだよ

Does this mean “Why isn’t the microwave working?!”

  2. (Sorry, I’m new) How are you supposed to know when じゃない is a negative or positive thing? I am getting conflicting answers. Most of the time it seems like じゃない is just placed after something to confirm a negative statement, like “元気じゃない”, but I also see positive examples like “似合うじゃない”.

Between those two, how are you supposed to know which is positive and negative? Is it context? If it’s supposed to essentially mean to question or confirm the previous statement, how are you meant to know which it’s doing?
