Hi I am currently living in Japan on a working holiday visa and I would like to transfer my Canadian driver’s license to a Japanese one. I have just noticed that you need to prove that you were living in the country of issue for 3 months after you got the license. I got my license many years before coming here however I renewed it less than a month before coming to Japan and the issue date on the license matches that. Would this be a problem and are there any ways that I could fix it if it was? I might still have old licences in Canada that I could get someone to send to me.
Also a brief second question, what kind of proofs would be easy to use to show that I was living in Canada.
I’m sorry if this is not the correct place to ask such a question but I felt like a tourism Japan subreddit was less appropriate.
Thank-you so much for any help

Get a driving record from whatever your province’s licensing authority is called. It seems to be de facto required anyway (the website now says it’s recommended you get it). When I needed it, my state’s licensing authority sent to to me in the post.
I think the easiest way to show you’ve been in your country three months before coming here, and the way they’ll probably ask for, is to show your passport with the entry stamp and your visa. There may be other ways like getting school records or payslips, but I’d only go to that hassle if they ask for it.
To convert my Québec license I ordered a driving record from the the SAAQ, you probably have a similar entity in your province will usually show so they need to see. If I remember correctly i had it delivered to my Japanese address or had my family send it do me.
