18. This is such a waste of police resources that should be better spent on other things.

    I read the Japanese article. The two hosts were arrested on public indecency charges and two attendees were also arrested on the same charges because they were the only ones who were naked at the time the police arrived. (Although they claim their private parts were covered.)

    Considering everyone was a consenting adult, I can’t see what was so public about their “indecency”.

    I mean, I could understand that they might go after the hosts for charging 10,000 yen ($74) per couple attending ($37 per person). But when you consider that food and accommodation were included, they can’t have been making much of a profit.

    Recently, a happening bar in Tokyo was also raided on similar circumstances.

    Is Japan really going to turn into such a prude? Especially since the sexualization of children is still so common here.

    I don’t think this is the sort of thing one can just self-proclaim. This is the sort of claim where a reporter with even the slightest sense of reporting acumen could just go to the SDF and ask them to verify or deny it.

    The article didn’t say there were minors, illegal substances, trafficked people. Is the house too small, no fire exit , not up to building code ? Is it because it’s not guaranteed protected sex ? Is it because the hosts received money ? Or are they too loud ?

    They should then ban happening bars in Tokyo then if orgy is illegal .

    People are having sex consensually. The article must mention on what grounds
