Funny title
They teach that from day one of preschool. Boys on one side, girls on the other. My daughter loved Cars more than any other toy as a kid until the first year of preschool, when she ‘learned’ it wasn’t for her. That has changed over time, but the gender coding in preschool here is very defined.
Hardly surprising. You can’t throw a stone in Japan without hitting a gender stereotype.
What
in
the
hell?
How is this “males and females are the same” crap still being peddled in 2022? I know people are stupid, but come on. Look at virtually every civilization through history and its the same. Look at differentiation in the animal kingdom. This whole idea of sameness is modern crappola from a select few countries so rich they can afford to entertain such absolute delusions.
Japan is not “behind”. They are mostly just normal. And anyone who thinks Japanese women are a poor, oppressed class needs to take a good hard look at their new beautiful homes, immaculate new cars, fashionable expensive clothes, shoes and make-up and just all around pull their heads out of their backsides. Then have a good hard look at the husband who is so damn tired from work he hardly gets to enjoy anything his salary brings in for the family…except maybe a beer before bed.
How did Japanese women get it so good? Well partially via the feminine trait of whining about being oppressed when they aren’t.
Islam has the answer for all of this , i agree
Women are females have there own abilities ,
Men are male have there own task and to keep women save and provide the good life for family’s …this is GODs plan… any one stand against it will loss الله أكبر
Norms equal stereotypes?
Even if you go to a 保育園 for a morning you can see it straight away. They don’t “believe” in gender stereotypes they’re told what to do.
Maybe cus gender is real….
Foreign narcissists at it again.
Coming to Japan to enjoy the uniqueness of the Japanese, because it’s plainly better than what they came from back home, yet immediately jumping to criticise them for not behaving like their own piece of shit culture.
And of course, like the sick narcissists they are seeing nothing hypocritical about any of their actions.
Japanese immigration policy should include a psychological evaluation to filter out the personality disorder filth, out of pure self-preservation instinct.
So Japanese culture shouldn’t be preserved.
“In the recent study, researchers had 565 pairs of 4- to 7-year-old children and their guardians from across Japan listen to a story about a “smart person” and a “nice person,” before they were shown pictures and pictograms of adult men and women. The children were then asked to guess if they were “smart” or “nice.” As a result, girls of all ages associated their gender with being “nice. No gender difference was observed for “brilliance” at ages 4 to 6, but at age 7, or around the time children enter elementary school, boys connected their gender with “brilliance” more than girls.”
That’s it? The girls tended to choose the woman as the “nice person” from the story? omg watch out, folks! lol
Japanese people are just like other people. Film at 11.
Japanese TV might also play in this.
Rows of young women sitting and smiling while two men chat;
Camera doing feet to head shots of women, never of men;
Advertising pushing the usual stereotypes…
Children will naturally pick up on this.
Gender “stereotypes” or gender-based tendencies? The former isn’t something to be “believed in,” it’s something that is observed.
Gotta say, pretty enthused at the number of based comments on this thread…damn the downvotes; full steam ahead!
A very sad thing I overheard one day …
My apartment is above a childcare center. While I was hanging out clothes on the balcony, a boy was wailing outside, probably had a fight with another child. He was there with a female teacher who kept shouting at him ‘Stop crying! Aren’t you a boy?!’ (Nakanaide! Anata wa Otoko deshooo!). It was really sad that she was shutting down his emotions like that…
Gender stereotypes are a good thing. I wish Americans would stop pushing their culture on the world.
Feminism is probably the worst thing to ever happen to women and families. It taught women that if they don’t dedicate their lives to being a career women who wastes away in an office then they’re a failure, it’s disgusting.
I’d be rich if I could make money off the number of times Japanese kids from around 3 to 8+ years of age commented that my son can’t be a boy and instead is a girl because of his long hair.
There are no gender stereotypes idiot. There is nothing wrong with kids in Japan.
Yes! This is the biggest problem here, I’ll give you an example; most girls here still think that they can only be a nurse just because they are women.. they don’t even aim to become a doctor. I don’t have any problems with nurses but the point is they don’t even think that they can become doctors.. gender stereotyping is huge in schools here
I’m beginning to think that this generation of Japanese kids (at least) falls into almost all stereotypes at a young age. I mean you guys can come at me and prove me wrong, but I think it is just a cultural way of dealing with the world. Keep your opinions to yourself and your head down and life is, if not great, at least s-c-h-m–u-m-u–v-u.
Japan runs on stereotypes and bullying.
I must investigate how I can join a ‘stating the obvious’ research group.
I guess it’s probably better to get some drag queens into read some stories and twerk in front of them. That’ll make everyone happy!
Some people like that. I am happy that my daughter is not told that she can be a boy if she wants to (like they do at american schools).
If she likes so play with cars, she can play with cars the whole day. This doesn’t make her a boy.
Mainichi
Japan also has the lowest crime and highest life expectancy in the world. Perhaps this is a good thing?
I support any persons right to choose which stereotypes they enjoy.
I also support gender stereotypes.
Pink looks great on girls.
If dudes want to wear that lame shit, it should be their choice.
If chics want to lift weights and get ripped like she hulk, go for it.
I wont date you, but im sure plenty of grey people will.
Yea… and BLM is not exactly popular there either…
Gah ive been battling this with my little girls. They have been spouting stereotypes they picked up at daycare “including girls cant do” this or that. Which i hard counter saying its absolutely not true as i dont want them believing they r limited because they r girls.
My daughter has heard “boys will be boys” more than I’ve heard it my entire life.
Boy threatens to kill my daughter.
“Well boys will be boys. They think it’s cool! Plus, his mom is really strict at home so he has all the pent up frustration. As his female friend, you should be the girl in his life that can listen to him and give him the support he needs!”
Kid tries to stab my daughter in the eye with a compass and says he’ll do it again.
“You know how boys are…boys will be boys!”
My daughter gets punched and kicked by a boy for protecting her friend.
“Well, boys will be boys. That’s what happens because she always plays with boys. She needs female friends.”
I get that there are going to be differences. If there was some sort of follow up after these actions then I wouldn’t be as angry but “boys will be boys” is the excuse that ends all. They are doing a huge disservice to their sons and students.
