IT positions in the countryside

Hi,
I just asked a question here recently about IT.
Some really good responses.
Now I am curious about another thing.

Are there any IT positions (Cyber security and / or System / Network admin) to be found in the countryside?

It seems that most, if not all, of the jobs are located in Tokyo / Osaka / the (big) cities.
Which makes sense I suppose.

Are there any positions located in the countryside?
I keep hearing that the only things you can find there is teaching and / or simple / menial jobs.
Which again, would make sense I suppose.

So what is the situation?

  1. Honestly, very little – it is rare to find tech jobs focused outside of the cities.

Equally, Japan is still pretty behind / resistant to fully remote work at least, though more startup style companies are likely to have some flex on this. So there is some possibility youde be able to secure a remote gig and live countryside, even if your office isnt there, but its also not the most likely thing.

I do know a couple of startups in Japan that were founded by Western tech guys that are based in smaller towns so are outside of the cities, but over time most of those ended up moving to major cities just because of finding it difficult to actually get staff
