Hi all – my husband and I will finally be doing our 2020 Japan honeymoon next April. We’ve had other in-country honeymoons, because corona, but it’s my husband’s first time out of the country and I love Japan, so we’re still calling it our honeymoon, dammit! We’d love any feedback on our rough itinerary! I like a pretty go-go itinerary, but I’ve tried to slow things down for my husband!
**Day One** \- Land at Kansai Airport 7:00 pm, find hotel and food, sleep.
**Day two** \- Osaka – Minoo park, Osaka Castle + surrounding park, dinner/shopping at Shinsekai or Dontonbori.
**Day three** \- Osaka, Universal Studios (Tuesday – quieter?)
**Day four** \- Move to Kyoto – Kiyomizu dera, Kodaji, Gion
**Day five** \- Kyoto – Tenryui Temple, Sagano Bamboo Forest, Arashiyama Orgel Museum, Kyoto station rooftop
**Day six** \- Kyoto – Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, Nishiki Market
**Day seven** \- Move to Kinosaki – wander streets, bike rental until check-in to Nishimuraya Honkan
**Day eight** \- Kinosaki -local onsen, Kinosaki ropeway, bird park, or onsenji temple if wanting to get out.
**Day nine** \- Move to Tokyo – ???
**Day ten** \-Tokyo – Odaiba (Miraikan, Teamlabs, Teleport station)
**Day eleven** \- Tokyo – Tokyo Disney Land (Wednesday – quieter?)
**Day twelve** \- Tokyo – Toyosu Fish Market, Asakusa (Sensoji, drum museum), Akihabara (game stores, merch)
**Day thirteen** \- Tokyo – Harajuku (Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Dori), Shinjuku (shopping, Peak Bar)
**Day fourteen** \- Tokyo – Something small and close to the hotel, head to Narita airport for 12:30 check-in.

**Other points/questions:**
* We’ll probably buy a JR pass.
* Should I swap the Kyoto and Kinosaki days? The trip back to Tokyo is long from Kinosaki, but doing Kinosaki after Kyoto gives some quieter days in the middle of the trip.
* What is Akihabara looking like these days? Is it still worth going now Sega is shut down? My partner is interested in seeing vintage game stores etc. Are we better to get to Nakano Broadway? I previously enjoyed Nakanao more.
* Any good suggestions for restaurants, or activities? We have a few game bars or good restaurants on our list but open to your favorites! Places like Kurand Sake Market and Silver Ball Planet look like fun to us.
Thanks in advance for any feedback all!

A JR Pass is not likely to pay off in your situation. You really need at least a round-trip between Tokyo and Osaka for it to make sense. You’ll be able to get by with just as IC card and shinkansen tickets.
The Sega arcade just became another arcade. So you can still go there. Most stuff in Akiba is just like it was pre-pandemic, so if you like anime/manga/video games, it’s still worth the trip for looking around and shopping.
You may want to keep an eye on whether Odaiba will be worth going to. They are shutting down a lot of things/areas there to do work for much of 2023, although I’m not sure what exactly is being affected.
