My wife and I are thinking about a vacation trip to Okinawa in late December, around Dec. 22-30. I’m a bit worried about the weather though – is it gloomy that time of the year? I know it won’t be particularly warm, but will it still be fun to sit on the beach briefly? Can you still swim (maybe in a thin wetsuit)?
Also, are tourism-oriented places open, like SCUBA diving trips, snorkeling trips, restaurants (we love good food), etc.? Or does all that shut down in the winter season?
We would probably just stay on Okinawa island, but we were also looking at perhaps going to Ishigaki for a few days. Would that be worth it? I hear Ishigaki is beautiful but how is it in late December?
