Armenians/Armenian places in Japan

Hello everyone,

I am planning on visiting Japan sometime after COVID stops being an issue worldwide. I was wanting to know, is there any Armenian places or influence anywhere in Japan? I would imagine it doesnt really exist, but it would be cool to see a little bit of home abroad.

Thanks for any help!

  1. There is a khachkar at International Christian University in Mitaka, but other than that… well, the expatriate community is about 70-80 and there are no Armenian Orthodox churches in Japan.

  2. After a bit of research, I found this page about the Armenian in Japan [http://diaspora.gov.am/en/pages/24/japan](http://diaspora.gov.am/en/pages/24/japan)

So if you want to see anything Armenian, you best bet seems to be the Khachkar of Peace at the International Christian University, but I did not found info on where exactly it is located, appart that it is next to black poplars tree from Armenia. The university is located in a city west of central Tokyo and while it is not too hard to access, you probably would like to do something else in the area if you were to go, but honestly, would not exactly be my first choice for a first trip to Japan.

And from the embassy website, found that there is also one in Shiroyama Garden [https://japan.mfa.am/en/news/2016/09/16/FriendshipKhachkar/4117](https://japan.mfa.am/en/news/2016/09/16/FriendshipKhachkar/4117) , not sure where in the garden, but it is mall so should not be too long to find and this one is much easier to access as it is located in Roppongi, so not too far if you are going to Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, Tokyo Tower, Zojo-ji temple and Atago shrine.

  3. You could also try contacting the [Armenian Embassy ](https://japan.mfa.am/hy)in Tokyo to see if during the time you are in Japan there are any public events related to Armenian culture. Or, who knows, maybe someone from the embassy would be willing to meet with you and talk more about relations between Japan and Armenia?
