I’m interested in applying to mext 2024 . I live in the US but I’m not a citizen or even a permanent resident here. So would I have to apply to the embassy of Japan in my home country or would the embassy of Japan in America be willing to accept my application?
Even if I do apply to the Japanese embassy in my home country, it’ll be very hard for me to take time off and go there for the test/interview. So do you think itll be possible for the Japanese embassy in the US to accept my application?
And I also noticed that computer science (which i intend to major in) is not listed in the mext accepted majors. I then found this [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/mext/comments/mhvpwt/is_computer_science_offered_for_the_undergraduate/). So from what I understood I would still be able to apply to computer science program in lets say waseda, information engineering and computer science are the same then?
Also regardless of mext what are the best universities for computer science/computer engineering? From my research I’ve found that waseda, keio and ritsumeikan are the best. Are there any other ones I should know about?
Thank you for your help!
