So I always wanted to go work in Japan but I’m a speech pathologist and ideally I would love to stay in my field, since you guys teach in Japan do you guys know of any schools with such positions?
There are a few schools who have them. I know the American School in Japan and Aoba-Japan International both do. Obviously it won’t be as easy as being an ALT or starting your own eikaiwa, but it can be done.
Speech Pathologist is something that I have never thought of but would seem to be a necessity over here. Since this is really niche I would suggest proactively contacting potential schools directly. Be sure to cite any precedents such as the other leading schools that were mentioned by the other poster. This is a very good ‘out of the box’ idea that has potential. At the very least you could start out with straight teaching and evolve that into what you want to do.
In Kansai there is an American speech pathologist who opened his own practice. He goes into international schools as well as consulting out of schools. He’s busy and doing great work.

In Japan that would be a medical issue not something an international school would have a designated teacher for.

[Here’s](https://savvytokyo.com/savvy-spotlight-speech-language-pathologist-marsha-rosenberg/) an article about someone who did it, maybe it can help you. I think it’s best to make a few professional connections if you can.
