if you go to a japanese derm and say you wanna reduce acne reduce redness reduce hyperpigmentation (the latter two not being strictly medical, but more or less aesthetic concerns) you can get lots of subsidised good stuff like oral medication, cleanser, retinol, moisturizer, etc. of course, if you wanna do some laser resurfacing, they can offer it and give top tier expertise, but you won’t be subsidised. fair enough.
i was wondering if i went to an orthodontist and said i want to make my jawline healthier, due to my presently having a bit of an overbite (but my real concern is to make my jawline sharper, since i’m not really suffering day to day because of it), what kind of treatment am i likely to get (if any) and would it be subsidised?
as a follow-up question, if my goal is to make my jawline sharper through orthodontics regardless of cost/subsidy, what sort of treatments are offered and how much do they cost here?
if anyone has any knowledge or experience, would be deeply appreciated.

you could just go and ask
What do you mean by sharper jaw line? Like your chin and the jaw bone itself? Your teeth aren’t going to have much to do with that unless you have a very severe dental condition. You’re looking for a plastic surgeon and none of this is going to be covered.
If you have a certain bone structure with a rather severe protruding bite, something called a “set back” can be done where they cut your jaw off (literally) remove a tooth on each side and plate it back on. This is will cost at least a million yen. Also on the bone side you can have a v-line procedure to have bone removed from your jaw line. This will also be over a million yen.
If you have large jaw muscles you can reduce using Botox. This can cost 10,000-50,000 depending on clinic. If you have a weak chin and want it to protrude more you can inject hyaluronic acid for 70,000 or so depending on the brand of filler.
If fat is causing a soft jaw line you can get liposuction for 150,000 or so, but research the clinic first. Thread lifts are also available and run 200,000+ for good quality results.
