I’m about to move into a new house in a couple months time and am looking into fiber providers for the area (Central Sapporo.) I was able to get a reservation for Nuro Hikari relatively easily but after reading some reviews in Japanese lately, it seems their quality has severely diminished over the past few months. A lot of people are citing slowdowns during peak times (nighttime mostly) and severe packet loss as well as poor ping in game.
Has anyone seen a drop in performance with their Nuro connection as of late? I’d rather be sure they’re still good if I’m going to commit to a 3 year contract.

It’s much better than the shitty Softbank Hikari I had.
Nuro did have a packet loss problem these past months, but they were quick to acknowledged them and investigated on their end. It was caused by abnormal traffic inside some particular area resulting in bandwidth congestion around Sept 20-28. They didn’t say what the abnormal traffic was, so people are still pissed at the moment though.

But they are planning to increase their resources ahead of schedule for the whole Japan so it could get better soon.

For the record, I’m also using Nuro in Tokyo 23-ku, and didn’t have any problem at all, or at least the packet loss didn’t significantly affect me and I’m remote work 100%. I can vouch for them.
I just moved so i cancelled my shitty Jcom contract and signed up for NURO Hikari for a number of reasons.
Should be up and running in 2 weeks.
Super excited.
