I’ve never seen konbu with this much concentrated white before – I know a little is normal, is this unusual?

  1. Hi there! That should be fine, looks like the mannitol. (マンニット, not sure in English). You can wash it off (but recommend to wipe down instead as it has the flavoring) If it is white and round splotches and fuzzy, it is mold. Hope this helps!

  2. That looks like mold. It’s not consistent with the rest of the kombu as if moisture or something got to the bottom. Imo anyways
