Japanese middle school exam resources?

I’ve been asked by a Japanese family I know to help their daughter prepare for her middle school exams for when she returns to Japan. Specifically, I’m looking for guides or workbooks for English (not Literature, but English as a second language if that makes sense). Anybody know of any resources? Thanks so much for your help! I don’t speak Japanese but I’m expecting these resources to be in Japanese so that’s OK!

  1. The exams are stupid. But the government is focusing more on communication. They’re not asking you to give her grammar lessons, they want you to make sure she can pronounce the letter L. You don’t need books. She needs to understand inflection, which Japanese wholly lacks. Emphasis on syllables or words in the sentence is one of the hardest things to teach in Japan. They don’t hear it because it’s not a part of their language. In English, a sentence can mean multiple things, depending on where is the emphasis. That’s what they’re asking you to teach her. If she learns grammar on the side, so much the better.
