Japanese learning question need advice.

So I’ve been teaching my self Japanese for awhile now. I know basic hiragana. I need to get back into practice writing it. I’m self taught with a mild cognitive intellectual disability btw. I am hoping someone can give me some tips on how to stay motivated learning the language and culture etc. I’m having difficulties with Katakana though.

I want to learn basics like speaking basic words and phrases, etc. Like how to say hello, how are you, etc. With having a disability I’m impressed I can learn the language to be honest. People told me it’s really hard when I was in school growing up. But learning isn’t that hard for me I just need to stay motivated etc. I want to be able to learn how to read and write basic Japanese. And talk in Japanese as well properly. Are there any Japanese speaking apps that can help me with out a subscription that I can learn basic stuff or any books I can get etc or games I can play for someone like me?

I’m really serious about learning the language. I’m 31 years old. I know how to read hiragana i just need to remind my self on how to do it if that makes sense. If anyone can offer me any advice or any tips etc that would be grateful. Thank you. I would love to visit Japan one day with my family and go on vacation etc. Thanks. 🙂

I also like to watch anime and read manga as well. I know you can read it over night I’m being realistic here but I heard people who watched anime and read manga leaned from practicing same as video games. Just curious is all. Thanks. 🙂

  1. For phrases and basic cultural knowledge, I’m using the Mango Language app. Many libraries around the world let you make a free account in Mango if you have a library membership, so check if that is available to you instead of paying for it. However, it doesn’t teach kanji, so for everything else I’m using renshuu.org and it’s really great – free, cute, super adjustable to personalise it to your learning style and loads of different types of learning like mini games and weekly discussion questions.
