I have a friend who will be coming to visit while I’ll be out of town. I wanted to let them stay in my apartment, but would need to share a physical key with them. Other than putting it under a doormat or hiding it somewhere (which seems completely *safe* to me, but still has the risk of a good samaritan finding it and turning it in), is there a good place to store a key-sized objects for ~1 week and share an the access code with somebody else?
I was thinking something like a coin locker w/ passcode, although those tend to be quite expensive for multi-day storage, and often have a 72h maximum.
Also, apologies if this has been asked before. I tried searching but to no avail.

Put it in a padded envelope addressed to yourself and leave it in your mailbox. Don’t forget to put a stamp on it.
You can get those realtor combination key lockboxes at the home center and have him hid it in the bushes or something.
Can’t you make a copy of the key at a hardware store?
