Working at a highschool/middleschool

So I won’t go into the specifics of my situation but I have a full ride scholarship and I’m currently studying at a Japanese university. By the end of my program I’ll have a 教員免許 to teach at a highschool or middle school. According to my professors a foreigner working as a full on homeroom teacher at a public school is basically something unheard of,so I was thinking of taking the 私立 route. Pretty sure it’s prohibited by law for a non Japanese citizen to be a homeroom teacher at a public school. I’d like to hear about the experiences of any other foreigner with a 教員免許 working as a homeroom teacher. Of course I’d appreciate any comments coming from TA’s but I would mainly like to hear out actual 教員.
