CoE and Dorm related questions.

Hello everyone. I have posted here earlier but I lost my phone yesterday so I have been unable to login with my previous ID.

Last time I got to know that I have to show at least 1.5 million yen as liquid money in my sponsor’s account to be eligible for CoE. So my mom decided to sponsor me and I was able to show a bank statement of 4 lakh INR and 13 lakh INR ( Around 2.2 million yen) as her annual income. I am also going to get 100,000 yen/month for living expenses.

As I didn’t have any scholarship for living expenses by April, I wasn’t sure I will go. Which is why I applied for CoE this late even if my enrollment was of April 2022.

The University already alloted me a dorm room and they mentioned the moving time and date. The University CoE desk told me that it will take at least 1.5-2 months to hear back but I have seen some posts here that have stated that it can sometimes take more than 3 months too.

Now my concern is, even after submitting all the proper documents such as relationship proof, annual bank statement, bank balance certificate, certificate of enrollment are there any chances of rejection? Also, since I didn’t move in at the dorm at the stipulated time, do I have to reapply for the dorm room or I will still get it?

Moreover, I am working here in a University as a contactual research assistant. Should I wait for the CoE to arrive or resign prior to that as courtesy? I am scared if I don’t get the CoE, I won’t be able to re-join.

If there is anything else you all can suggest, I would be really thankful.

Please be kind as I am quite nervous. Thank you.

  1. My university submitted the CoE application in May and told us we should hear back by August. We were given an international student guide and it’s basically step by step what we would need to do while waiting for example start looking for apartments in case the dorms are full.

As long as your paperwork is in order you should be fine.

For dorms that would be up to the university if possible see if they have an email for you to contact them and ask.

  2. >Now my concern is, even after submitting all the proper documents such as relationship proof, annual bank statement, bank balance certificate, certificate of enrollment are there any chances of rejection?

If the university hasn’t shown any concerns, you should be confident that you’ll get approved of the visa. There’s always a chance they find something that makes them reject, but as long as everything is in order you should not worry.

    >Also, since I didn’t move in at the dorm at the stipulated time, do I have to reapply for the dorm room or I will still get it?

That’s 100% a question for the university. There’s no way for us to know.

    >Should I wait for the CoE to arrive or resign prior to that as courtesy?

That’s completely up to you. If you have some notification period you need to adhere too, how confident you are etc.
