How far back in employment history do we need to present a 退職証明書 for visa renewal?

Many of us know the nature of English jobs is to sign a one year contract and renew or depart. Usually I like to depart to move to a new place.

Last year, immigration accepted and kept the taishoku document from my 2019 job despite me not working there for over two years. I didn’t make a copy and gave them the original, so I assumed they’d need it again. I swallowed my pride and contacted my old boss who isn’t the nicest person to deal with in these situations but I owned up and told her due to my carelessness they took the only copy and asked if she could email me the paper.

She made a fuss and she was pretty stern asking who I’m presenting the document to (told her in the email) and why do I need it again after they sent me one last year (explained in the email) because immigration should have it on file and I haven’t worked for her in quite a long time. Totally valid reasons and it made me think if immigration won’t require it. I’m pretty sure I was confusing the importance of this document with that of tax papers which actually do change every year.

She also said she’ll send it “if it’s really necessary” even though they just have to fill in my name, date and stamp it as they have the template… oh well. Do I need to present the taishoku paper from my 2019 job when I apply for visa extension this year or will they still have the one I gave them last year and I won’t need it?
